Sometimes, synchronicities happen with such frequency that it’s funny. Such was the case for the topic of turtles and tortoises in the last couple of weeks. Everywhere I turned, they appeared as if a nod and a wink from the other side, perhaps. I laughed out loud today as more turtles arrived on my screen as I was reading. So, I’m writing about it this week for those curious about synchronicities and how they can be conspicuous and impossible to miss if you’re paying attention.
Last week, I wrote about an ancient shaman woman who was buried in Israel 12,000 years ago. While reading about her, I discovered that her community buried her with over 50 tortoise shells and a large triangle over her body. But the meaning of why they chose to place the shells around her was a mystery.
It was certainly symbolic and seemed part of the spiritual ritual as this revered woman was placed inside a carved pit shaped like a tortoise shell. I was reminded of Native American stories about Turtle Island and how cultures around the world have spiritual stories involving these ancient, harmless reptiles.
Days ago, my pet tortoise Venus laid 19 eggs, a shockingly large number. The event was the main focus of the afternoon as I carefully prepared each one for an incubator. More tortoises, far more than anyone could expect! It was tortoise week, I thought. Was there a hidden meaning? Or is the meaning merely noticing the synchronicities as a message in itself?
Tortoises and Turtles Everywhere
Scrolling on social media, I saw the story of Turtle Island in my feed. Of course, I stopped and looked closer. It was The Story of Turtle Island as guarded and shared by Jacob (Mowegan) Wawatie, a prominent Algonquin elder and holy medicine man from Quebec. In the context of this post, the story took on new meaning as it relates to physics and Nikola Tesla’s work with electricity transmission through the Earth. Or, as physicist Charlie Solis describes it, “conductive ground electricity transmission system.”
As you can see below, Wawatie, whose name translates to “Northern Lights,” shares some profound insights about Turtle Island, North America, in the creation story. As he describes it, human activities such as mining and damning rivers are disrupting the Earth’s delicate “nervous system” or “pulse.” Solis makes some fascinating comparisons to Tesla and modern technologies, such as ground dipole antennas and the Seismoelectric effect.
And disrupting the Earth’s natural communication system seems to be leading to something ominous. Scientists, this week, have reported that the Earth is undergoing surprise structural changes. Activity on the outer core appears to be “disturbing the inner core.”
Many Native prophecies point to days like what we’re experiencing: an Earth out of balance. To undo the damage, humanity must immediately work with the natural system and not against it.
“It’s a call to each of us, to honor the legacy of Jacob Wawatie and indigenous wisdom, by embracing sustainable practices and reconnecting with the Earth.”
“Let’s carry forward Jacob’s vision, ensuring that the story of Turtle Island and the wisdom it holds, continues to inspire and guide future generations. 🌎💚” Solis wrote.

In the video you can see on Instagram, we see artwork inspired by Jacob Wawatie’s Prophecy of the Eighth Fires” by Christopher Dyer, Wawatie’s partner (see below). According to Dyer, the final fire may have been ignited in 2017 at Standing Rock.
“We are in the final stage of the prophecy, where we have the freedom to choose our destiny. If we don’t act from the heart, we could self-destruct as humanity and let the disrespected environment wipe us out. But the prophecy also said that the ‘Rainbow Tribe’ (people of all races and cultures) will also unite to bring healing, love and peace back to our planet. For the Love of God, let’s choose the Right Destiny! Keep the faith and keep doing your contribution in any way possible!” Dyer wrote in 2020.
And here’s the entire video of The Story of Turtle Island by the mqx channel:
“He received the guardianship of the story of Akiminak Nimitik (the back of the turtle) directly from his great grandmother who insisted on the sacred nature of this story. Jacob guarded and shared this story as such everytime he had the opportunity to share them, especially with younger generations, The most important quality of this story is that this IS the natural Constitution of the sentient beings living on the back of the turtle and indigenous peoples living on these territories have to thread the land lightly and lovingly, thusly becoming Good Ancestors,” shared mqx.
Lighting the Eighth Fire
As I was writing this, a friend, by chance, shared another post that shockingly relates to all of this. She did not have any idea what I was writing about. Thus, another synchronicity happened in real-time, and so I’m sharing that, too. It’s a prophecy from Everett La Fromboise, an Anishinaabe (Ojibwe) man who shared a story from the Ojibwe people first made public in the Mishomas Book in the 80s.
“The 7th Fire Prophecy states that in this time, the light-skinned race will be given a choice between two roads. If they choose the right road, then the 7th fire will light the 8th and final fire, the eternal fire of peace, love, brotherhood and sisterhood,” says Anishinaabe.
“But if the light-skinned race chooses the wrong road, then the destruction that they brought with them in coming to this land will come back at them and cause much suffering and death to all of the world’s people.
A Tortoise Temple and Mother Nature
As you can see, once synchronicities start, they can really ramp up. But this case is particularly intense, maybe because the message here is so critically important for humanity. It’s a message that couldn’t be ignored. But there was also another example.
Last night, as I often do, I was reading about Egyptian spirituality. And I came to a passage comparing the Egyptian Mother of Creation to the Indian Parashakty and the Trinity. There are many instances where these beliefs are identical, which I won’t go into here. But as I searched for more on Parashakty, I discovered a temple to Her in India. And wouldn’t you know, that led me to more turtles and tortoises!
At the Hindu Tripura Sundari Temple to Parashakty, there is a structure shaped like a kurma or a tortoise. Extremely rare and sacred aquatic Bostami turtles, or Black softshell turtles, swim in the water nearby. Their name may translate to the Bengali word for “monks who worship Vishnu.” Interestingly, the turtle is an avatar of Vishnu, comparable to the Egyptian Osiris.
Even here in this sanctuary, the turtles are facing problems due to humanity’s activities. Once more, it all relates to one underlying message here: Choose the path to love and protect Mother Nature and all of her incredible creations, turtles, tortoises, and everything else. In essence, all of nature is, in reality, part of Her. We must choose the correct path and “light the 8th fire” to a peaceful future. And it’s entirely our choice to do so: choose acting from the heart and not the ego.
